Wear resistance testing for materials
In the corrosion test above all, statements are made about the wear resistance of materials vis-à-vis defined environmental conditions. Corrosion, along with mechanical load, is a major reason for the limitation of service life of components, machinery and plant equipment. In order to simulate the influences to which a material is exposed in practice, corresponding corrosion tests are performed. In this connection the material is exposed to a corrosive medium for a defined period of time at a defined temperature. Subsequently, the corrosion is assessed in accordance with various methods.
In our laboratory we perform the following corrosion tests for you:
- Strauß test: Tests the wear resistance of stainless steels to intercrystalline corrosion (DIN EN ISO 3651-2, formerly DIN 50914, ASTM A262 Method E)
- Determination of the wear resistance to intercrystalline corrosion in nickel-based alloys (DIN EN ISO 9400)
- Huey test: Wear resistance of stainless steels to local corrosion (DIN EN ISO 3651-1, formerly DIN 50921, ASTM A262 Method C)
- Tests the wear resistance of stainless steels to intercrystalline corrosion in boiling media (ASTM G28 Method A, ASTM A262 Method B Streicher test)
- Pitting test (ASTM G48 Method A)
- Intercrystalline corrosion in curable aluminium alloys (ASTM G110)
- Oxalic acid etch test per ASTM A262 Method A
- Testing of wear resistance to stress corrosion cracking with ammonia in accordance with ISO 6957
- Additional testing upon request
